AWEA webinar for utility working group to feature AWWI

On November 16, AWEA’s Utility Working Group webcast will feature the American Wind Wildlife Institute, covering AWWI's efforts to create the tools to address mitigating impacts of wind on wildlife. Abby Arnold, Executive Director of AWWI, will present on AWWI’s unique collaboration between 31 partners from the wind industry, utilities, environmental and science NGOs and state agencies. Attendees will hear an overview of AWWI’s main projects, including the Landscape Assessment Tool, the Eagle Mitigation Initiative, support for applied research program and our growing Mitigation plan. She will discuss ways in which, as an AWWI Partner, utilities can utilize these tools and the new data available from our research program to increase predictability and reduce risk associated with the operation and maintenance of their wind portfolio. This summer, the wind industry surpassed 50,000 MW of wind in the ground. AWWI is expanding beyond siting to developing tools and strategies to minimize impacts of operating wind facilities on wildlife.

The webinar is open to AWEA utility members only and requires free registration here:
