Apex Clean Energy Joins a Vigorous AWWI

AWWI is delighted to welcome Apex Clean Energy as a new AWWI Sustaining Partner in 2016.

Apex is an independent renewable energy company that focuses on building utility-scale renewable energy generation facilities, from site origination and financing to turnkey construction and long-term asset management.

Headquartered in Charlottesville, Va., the company has a portfolio of wind energy projects that currently spans 25 states and is capable of producing more than 12,000 MW of clean energy.  According to Apex, the company was the market leader for new U.S. wind capacity additions in 2015, with 1,042 MW completed.

Dave Phillips, the company’s Director of Environmental and Wildlife Permitting, will lead Apex Clean Energy’s participation in AWWI.

“Apex recognizes the value of wind energy—it produces no carbon emissions, consumes no water, and is cost-competitive,” said Phillips.  “The work of AWWI and its partners is imperative for all who hold a stake in the success of wind energy and the protection of wildlife and habitat, and Apex looks forward to our future collaboration.”

In addition to welcoming Apex as a new partner, all Partners and Friends have renewed their commitment to AWWI in 2016. AWWI is at its strongest today, with 21 wind energy leaders and 10 conservation and science organizations, including the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies.

“Apex is an industry leader and we look forward to engaging them in AWWI’s programs and, most importantly, to leveraging their experience and perspective to continue to make advancements on wind-wildlife solutions,” said AWWI Executive Director Abby Arnold.
