North American Windpower, the wind energy trade publication, is running in its May issue an article by AWWI’s Abby Arnold. Abby’s article shows how the AWWI collaborative model has proven its worth in terms of process and results. The article also argues that the collaborative approach can provide the basis for the much larger effort that is still needed in order for wind energy to grow to its full potential while conserving wildlife.
In its April issue, North American Windpower had already published articles by Duke Energy on avian mitigation and by Stantec on inefficiencies in the current wildlife assessment process for wind projects.
Together, the three articles make a strong case for the steps that are needed to successfully manage the wind-wildlife challenge now and in the years ahead.
