National Wildlife Federation’s Jim Murphy Joins AWWI Board

The AWWI Board approved the nomination of Jim Murphy to serve on the AWWI Board of Directors for the National Wildlife Federation (NWF), one of the nine national science and environmental organizations that are AWWI Partners. Jim Murphy is Senior Counsel with NWF and, in addition to his nonprofit management experience, brings years of legal and policy expertise working on climate, energy, and renewable development.

“We very much look forward to Jim’s leadership on the AWWI Board of Director and are deeply appreciative of the National Wildlife Federation’s continued engagement in AWWI,” said AWWI Executive Director Abby Arnold.

Jim Murphy works on an array of climate related issues, including regulatory solutions to carbon pollution, protecting wildlife from harmful fossil fuel projects, and advancing wildlife-friendly renewable energy. He also has worked extensively protecting wildlife and natural resources through legal actions involving the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, National Environmental Policy Act, and other environmental statutes.  Prior to joining NWF in 2003, he worked with the Conservation Law Foundation, in private practice, and on Capitol Hill. He has an LL.M., summa cum laude, in Environmental Law from Vermont Law School, a J.D. from Boston College Law School, and B.A. in Political Science and History from the University of Vermont.

In a unique feature that facilitates pursuit of the shared goal of advancing wind energy while conserving wildlife, AWWI Board members are drawn equally from environmental and science organizations and from the wind energy industry.
